Courses for children with Special Needs

This course group provides comprehensive training for fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for children with special needs. Participants will gain expertise in areas such as emotional resilience, creative expression, bullying prevention, assistive technology, and inclusive teaching strategies.

We believe it is essential for the programs to emphasize collaboration between educators, families, and communities to create tailored interventions that promote emotional, social, and academic development. Each course integrates practical applications, cultural insights, and reflective practices to ensure a holistic approach to special needs education.

Group size: between 4 and 10 participants. Maximum 14
Group composition: Participants attend the course with an Erasmus+ grant or suing private funds, and come from a variety of European countries. This multicultural composition fosters intercultural exchange and peer learning.
Language of instruction: The course is delivered in English.
Schedule:  The course is organized either from 10:00 to 14:00, from 10:00 to 15:00, or from 10:00 to 14:00 with two additional afternoon sessions or guided tours.

DESCRIPTION
This Erasmus+ training course focuses on promoting inclusion, integration, and multiculturality in educational contexts, responding to the increasing cultural, linguistic, and social diversity present in European classrooms. Hosted in Barcelona—a city recognised for its multicultural character and inclusive educational practices—the course offers participants both theoretical foundations and practical strategies for working effectively in diverse learning environments. Participants will explore key concepts such as inclusion, equity, intercultural competence, social integration, and diversity management. The course addresses challenges related to migration, cultural differences, language barriers, special educational needs, and social exclusion. Emphasis is placed on creating inclusive, learner-centred environments that respect diversity and promote equal opportunities for all learners. Through interactive sessions and practical workshops, participants will develop strategies to foster intercultural dialogue, prevent discrimination, and support the integration of learners from diverse backgrounds. The course encourages critical reflection on personal attitudes and institutional practices while promoting inclusive policies aligned with European educational values.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand key concepts and frameworks related to inclusion, integration, and multicultural education.

  2. Analyse diversity-related challenges in their own educational contexts and identify inclusive responses.

  3. Apply inclusive teaching strategies that support learners from diverse cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds.

  4. Promote intercultural competence and dialogue among learners and educational communities.

  5. Design inclusive learning activities that encourage participation, collaboration, and mutual respect.

  6. Address discrimination and bias through preventive and educational approaches.

  7. Reflect critically on personal and institutional practices related to inclusion and equity.

  8. Transfer inclusive methodologies to their own institutions, contributing to social cohesion and educational quality.

PROGRAM OPTIONS
20 hours of Class:

Classes from Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 14:00 + 2 afternoon activities included (it is free and optional)
Learning material will be provided first day of class, according to the participants levels.

25 hours of Class:

Classes from Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 14:30 or 10:00 am to 15:00 + 2 afternoon activities included (it is free and optional)
Learning material will be provided first day of class, according to the participants levels.

CLASSES and ACTIVITIES 
Morning: Classes
Afternoon activities: Guided visit and Historical Route in Gothic and Medieval area in Barcelona, museums... Cultural activities are optional and free.

If the course dates have to be postponed/changed due to an emergency situation, the fees paid will be valid for any other course offered by SpainBcn-Programs during the following 12 months.
