SpainBCN Soccer & Spanish Summer Programs for young students Thank you so very much for the wonderful experience Nick had in Spain. He is absolutely raving about it. He really enjoyed Barcelona, his host family, of course the beach, and the soccer camp. I'm not sure how much Spanish he learned, but he learned to be very comfortable moving about Barcelona, shopping (I love the clothes he bought) and participating in the soccer camp. I know he met many boys from other places in the US and plans to keep in touch with them. He seems to have grown up quite a bit. The experience will be with him forever. About the two languages of Barcelona: adult student My wife, 12-year old son and I spent 3 months in Barcelona in the autumn of 2005 and studied most weekdays at the Spain BCN language school.  We found the entire experience wonderful, most notably the productive and pleasant language learning, the safe urban lifestyle, and the exposure to Spanish and Catalan culture.We're often asked about the two languages, Castilian (Spanish) and Catalan (the local language of the Cataluña region), and whether this caused any difficulties or confusion during our stay.  To the contrary, we found the combined Spanish/Catalan aspects of Barcelona to be an advantage over other areas in Spain that we visited.  In Barcelona and Cataluña in general, literally all the locals speak both Castilian and Catalan with equal and total fluency.  Likewise all public signage (e.g. in the Metro) is in both languages.  The parallels between the two similar languages actually serve to further stimulate the linguistic juices and may even enhance the Castilian learning experience, certainly for the more versatile minds of our youth. Estudiante Erasmus de la Republica Checa (University student) Hola. Soy un estudiante Erasmus en Barcelona y mañana volveré a mi casa en la República Checa. ¿Y qué tal mi estancia aquí? ¡Muy bien! :) Barcelona es una ciudad muy bonita con diferentes barrios y diferente gente y claro, el mar. Estar aquí es muy divertido y puedes salir casi cada día. También hay dos o tres organizaciones para estudiantes Erasmus que se preocupan de que conozcan la ciudad, etc. La gente aquí es muy amable y muy diferente de todo el mundo...Por eso no te sientes como en el extranjero sino casi como en tu país. Estudiante Erasmus de Alemania (University student) Als Erasmus-Student im Jahr 2005/2006 war meine erste Anlaufstelle in Barcelona die Sprachschule spainbcn. Da ich zu dem Zeitpunkt nur einen Grundkurs Spanisch in der Fachhochschule hatte und der Unterricht in der Universität erst vier Wochen nach meiner Ankunft begann, war es für mich das sinnvollste, eine Sprachschule zu besuchen. In den ersten vier Wochen konnte ich das volle Programm (vormittags / achmittags) der Schule nutzen und als die Uni begann, wurde der Unterricht so gelegt, dass wir Studenten die Kurse auch abends weiter besuchen konnten. Außerdem war die Sprachschule sehr praktisch zum Kennenlernen anderer Erasmus-Studenten, die ebenfalls zu früh angekommen waren. Nach der ersten Unterrichtsstunde wurde wir je nach Niveau in unterschiedliche Gruppen aufgeteilt. Der Unterricht war sehr professionell und durch die kleinen Gruppen wirkte es sehr familiär. An Wochenenden wurden von der Schule gemeinsame Aktivitäten, von Besichtigungen bis hin zu gemeinsamen Nachmittagen am Strand, veranstaltet. Oliver (from Germany, EU).

Bastiian, estudiante Erasmus de Holanda (University student) De cursus spaans bij Spain BCN is me erg bevallen. Ze zijn erg flexibel in tijden, dus de lessen zijn makkelijk te combineren met de universiteit. * De lessen zijn niet standaard, maar in kleine groepen waardoor er goed op jouw niveau les gegeven wordt. Als je een goeie groep vindt met het juiste niveau dan leer je de taal sneller dan je denkt. Na amper 50 uur les spreek ik toch een aardig woordje spaans.  -) * en englais: ( el mismo) I am glad for choosing the Spanish course at Spain BCN. They have really flexible times so its easy to combine with the university lectures. The lessons are given in small groups, so you decide the level of difficulty for yourshelf. When you find the right group for you, with the best level for you, you will learn the language sooner than you think.  - * en espa~nol: - los classes era muy divertido - Espero que esto es sufficiente. Antes sólo conocía de España las islas mas turísticas y ¡hay una gran diferencia!. Me gusta mucho la manera de vivir de aquí, a otra velocidad y más divertido todo.
